Conference LYON November 16th 2015


The PLC conference in Lyon on November 16th was a great success with nearly 50 participants and the opportunity to host a large community of decision makers and stakeholders in Health logistics. Lyon is the capital of Life Sciences and especially for Bio-Pharma products. The Lyon region includes the headquarters of many international laboratories, from world leaders in their specialties, to biotechnology startups.
The event took place at the NH Hotel, near the train station and the Lyon St Exupéry Airport and we welcomed the 3 following speakers:

  • The Transport Director of BIOMERIEUX a French company specializing in in vitro diagnostics; world leader in microbiology and industrial applications (food, cosmetics, biopharmaceuticals), near Lyon. Bio Merieux offers solutions to determine the source of disease or contamination. Its reagents, instruments and software are used in the diagnosis of infectious diseases for cardiovascular emergencies, screening, monitoring of cancer and for detecting microorganisms in food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. BIOMERIEUX is present in more than 160 countries with 41 subsidiaries and a large network of distributors. Its export turnover is 87%. As a consequence, logistics and in particular temperature-controlled are of the utmost importance.
  • The Health project manager of the GRAND LYON who presented the appeal of the Lyon city, as well as initiatives towards international investors, scientists and contractors, who will in turn trigger further interest for transport and logistics.
  • The head of the Supply Chain Commission, within the AFIPRAL.This association brings together pharmaceutical manufacturers of the Rhône-Alpes region. Created there over 50 years ago by Charles Mérieux, the association pursues its ambition to establish a network of expertise in the Rhône-Alpes region and aims to welcome new members from different backgrounds. Today the organization has about thirty members and continues this strategy « to create a network of expertise to improve the learning curve, » Transport and logistics are a key topic for the health of its members and .. customers!
